CLINICALLY APPLIED PILATES (available in person or virtually)

Rehabilitation is an integral part of healing. Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit prescribes personalized exercises and programs, and collaborates closely with other chiropractors, physiotherapists, doctors, trainers and instructors. Pilates offers a comprehensive workout method designed to improve flexibility, build core strength, and enhance overall body awareness. By focusing on controlled movements and precise breathing, Pilates helps to correct posture, reduce stress, and prevent injury, making it an ideal exercise for individuals of all fitness levels.

After an acute injury, pain and inflammation is treated FIRST. Proper strengthening of the injured or surrounding area will help recovery and prevent compensations.  This is what will prevent a re-injury

FOR BACK PAIN - SPINAL STENOSIS PILATES BOOTCAMP

Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit is certified to provide the manual therapy and prescribe exercises of the Spinal Stenosis Bootcamp Program. This evidence based program was developed by Dr. Carlo Ammendolia and his research team at Mt Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

The program combines manual therapy, special exercises, instruction on body re-positioning techniques and self-management strategies. Manual therapy aligns the spine to maximize the openings for the spinal nerves. Special exercises help restore weak back and leg muscles and when combined with body alignment strategies, help to reduce the pressure on the compressed nerves.
