Rehabilitation is an integral part of healing. Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit collaborates closely with other chiropractors, physiotherapists, doctors, trainers and instructors.
After an acute injury, pain and inflammation is treated first. However proper strengthening of the injured or surrounding area will help recovery, AND prevent compensations, imbalanced and a cycle of pain.
Regaining strength is achievable through CUSTOM PROGRAMS or TRANSITION TO SPORT OR WORK. By working closely with trainers/coaches, people can progress under supervision and management of their condition.
TYPES OF MOVEMENT THERAPY USED:
Unique to Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit, THERAPEUTIC PILATES incorporates injury management with pilates, yoga, myofasical movement and proper biomechanics. The goal is to mobilize restrictions and stabilize weakness using different equipment, techniques and assisted stretches.

Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit is qualified to teach Low Pressure Fitness and Hypopressives to help symptoms of abdominal and pelvic floor weakness. Low Pressure Fitness is a breathing technique combined with specific poses/exercises that focuses on posture. The improvement on muscle tone, breathing patterns, and posture are significant!

LUMBER SPINAL STENOSIS (LSS) BOOTCAMP
Dr. Darlene Buan-Basit is certified to provide the manual therapy and prescribe exercises of the Spinal Stenosis Bootcamp Program. This evidence based program was developed by Dr. Carlo Ammendolia and his research team at Mt Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
The program combines manual therapy, special exercises, instruction on body re-positioning techniques and self-management strategies. Manual therapy aligns the spine to maximize the openings for the spinal nerves. Special exercises help restore weak back and leg muscles and when combined with body alignment strategies, help to reduce the pressure on the compressed nerves.
Using the OmGym and gravity, traction can be provided to tight joints in the spine and hips creating space. Suspension and Ariel Yoga exercises are used to build core strength and control deep stretches. The sling is also used to help symptoms of pelvic instability and SI dysfunction.
